We want to be unequivocally clear: no DMBS member has been or will be disenfranchised. Every member in good standing has the full right and opportunity to seek office and to vote. The Constitution provides two pathways for nomination — written submissions by June 14 and floor nominations on election day — ensuring that access to the process remains open to all eligible members regardless of when they receive notice.
• Written nominations may be submitted to the Election Committee up to fourteen (14) days prior to the election date. Submissions must include either written or verbal consent from the nominee; verbal consent must be witnessed and documented by at least one Election Committee member.
• Nominations will also be accepted from the floor on the day of the election, provided the nominee is present or has submitted written consent.
• • Written resumes are required for all candidates and must be submitted to the Election Committee alongside the nomination.
Note: Neither the President nor the Vice President may serve as a member of the Election Committee. (Rules & Regulations, Sec. I.C.c)
• Elections shall be conducted by secret ballot, except when only one candidate is nominated for an office, in which case a unanimous vote may be cast.
• The Election Committee shall prepare, distribute, collect, and count all ballots.
• The candidate receiving the highest number of votes for each office shall be declared elected.
• In the event of a tie, a revote shall be conducted either by continuing the meeting or by scheduling a revote meeting within fourteen (14) days.
• Results will be announced before the adjournment of the election meeting.
